Minisymposia: (back to top)
A collection of topical minisymposia forms the backbone of the Congress's technical program. A minisymposium consists of one or more technical sessions that focus on specific topics or research areas in Computational Mechanics. The technical sessions provide a flexible format that accommodates both keynote presentations and regular conference papers. Each technical session contains five 24-minute time slots; a keynote will be allocated two time slots (including time for questions), while a regular paper is allocated one slot.

Volunteer minisymposium organizers will develop each minisymposium. The organizers are responsible for the technical content of their minisymposium; they select invited participants and review abstracts of contributed papers. They serve as the point of contact for each minisymposium and act as liaisons to the Technical Program Chairs . The minisymposium organizers are responsible for collecting and editing print-ready abstracts from the minisymposium authors and for transmitting them for publication in the Congress proceedings. Web-based tools will facilitate the process of collecting, reviewing and transmitting the abstracts.

Call for Minisymposium Proposals: (back to top)
The Technical Program Chairs invite proposals for minisymposia from the Computational Mechanics community. All proposals must be submitted electronically from this web site using the Minisymposium Proposal Form . A proposal consists of a title, a list of organizers, estimates of the numbers of keynotes and papers, and a brief abstract (500 words or less) that describes the topical content of the minisymposium and explains the significance of the proposed topic. There should be at least two organizers for each minisymposium; it is desirable that they represent more than one institution. Please consider including both U.S. and international scientists as organizers, where appropriate. A help page is available for the Minisymposium Proposal Form.

The minisymposium proposal deadline is October 1, 2002. Notification of the final selection of minisymposia will be given no later than October 15, 2002. Please visit the Minisymposium Proposal Form .
